Abortion and the Bible

Now we know this is a lively subject and there is much debate even among Christian organizations and Churches. So we know some of you will not agree with what we write here. But we also believe that it is good to give people something to think about. So we will give you the basics of what we understand the Bible has to say about abortion.

What dose the Bible have to say

Abortion is Murder

Now we all know that the Sixth Commandment says; "Thou shalt not kill" But what really dose that mean. According to the Westminster Shorter Catechism question number 68 “The Six Commandment requireth all lawful endeavors to preserve our own life, and the life of others.”

Now I now there are some that believe life doesn’t start till after birth. But then I ask you to consider this

"The babies [Jacob and Esau] jostled each other within her [Rebekah]." (Genesis 25:22)
"In the womb he [Jacob] grasped his brother's heel; as a man he struggled with God." (Hosea 12:3)
"Your hands shaped me and made me. Will you now turn and destroy me? Remember that you molded me like clay. Will you now turn me to dust again? Did you not pour me out like milk and curdle me like cheese, clothe me with skin and flesh and knit me together with bones and sinews? You gave me life and showed me kindness, and in your providence watched over my spirit." (Job 10:8-12)
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made . . . My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." (Psalm 139:13-16)

"Surely I was sinful at birth; sinful from the time my mother conceived me." Psalm 51:5 "His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit . . . an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit." Matthew 1:18-20
"But the angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. . . . The angel answered, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.'" Luke 1:30-31, 35

“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5

“Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?” Job 31:15

I think that the verses tell us that if God knew us from the womb then we are a life at that point. So an unborn Child has the same rights as a newborn baby. Not to be treated as something we can just throw away.
Besides the choice is made when we decide to have sex. That it is possible for a child to be conceived. So it is a matter of Choice. If you don’t what a child don’t have sex.

This is the choice, not "I will have sex no mater what the out come and if I get pregnant I will just kill my child."
We as created beings under God’s law need to protect our future by protecting our unborn children. Life is such a beautiful choice!

Protect The Beauty of Life

"He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing" Deuteronomy 10:18. "Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked." Psalm 82:3-4

"Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say, 'But we knew nothing about this,' does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay each person according to what he has done?" Proverbs 24:11-12 "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy." Proverbs 31:8-9 "Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins." James 4:17

"House of David, this is what the LORD says: 'Administer justice every morning; rescue from the hand of his oppressor the one who has been robbed, or my wrath will break out and burn like fire because of the evil you have done-burn with no one to quench it.'"
(Jeremiah 21:12)
"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come . . . take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. . . . I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me . . . . For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me. . . . 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'" (Matthew 25:31-46)

Chose Life

I don’t believe it is asking too much to protect our children who cannot speak for themselves. When we spend millions of dollars to protect and care for unborn animals. After all if we kill off all our unborn Children who will be left to protect and care for the animals.

"This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live." Deuteronomy 30:19
